Valentines Day Treats

February 13, 2015: Champaign, IL.  After a year and a half of perfecting the recipe, I have finally mastered the basic French Macaron.  They are almond flavored with a buttercream filling, and the perfect little gift to give almost anyone on any holiday.  I've learned to only make these for special occasions or else I find myself eating one before and after every meal to feel "finished".  Hopefully these sweet treats can become my newest Valentines Day tradition.
 My recipe is a mixture of many different people's, but it is definitely one that every baker should make their own.  As finicky as these little guys are, they are completely worth it.  Especially the day after when the flavor of the buttercream has soaked into the shell, perfection!
