Quarter Calorie Brownies

January 5, 2014: Wadsworth, IL.  I have read dozens of recipes that attempt to make brownies healthy and none have ever seemed worth it.  Apple sauce gives a weird texture, cutting the oil in half leaves them dry, and I really just hate bananas so I definitely can't go there.  Lately I've been on a huge guacamole kick so putting an avocado into my desert sounded divine!  I know, strong word for adding a vegetable to chocolate- but hear me out.  Avocados are full of fat (the good kind, in opposition to the bad kind that is in oil) and when mashed up have the perfect thick and creamy texture that you want in a brownie.  My only tip is to go into this knowing that these brownies contain a quarter of the calories (in terms of add in's) of a normal boxed brownie, so you can't expect to be eating the rich chocolate hunk of deliciousness you're used to!  However, I will say that once you've eaten a few you won't even notice the difference.  What other brownie renditions have you tried?!

Recipe
1 box of brownie mix (10-20 ounces)
2/3 cup of mashed up avocado
1/3 cup of water

Mash up your avocado, then dump all of the ingredients into a bowl and stir.  It takes a little longer than usual because of the thicker consistency.  Pour all of the mix into a 9x13 inch sprayed pan and bake on 350° for 28 minutes.
